According to the State Administration for Market Regulation, energy-saving standards are an important part of the national energy-saving system and an effective means to improve economic quality and efficiency, promote green, low-carbon and circular development, and build ecological civilization. Mandatory energy efficiency standards are energy conservation standards that stipulate the minimum energy efficiency requirements for energy-consuming products and equipment to enter the Chinese market. The goal of peaking and carbon neutrality provides strong support.

It is understood that my country started to study energy efficiency standards in the mid-1980s. The current effective mandatory product energy efficiency standards have reached 75, and the number of standards has achieved international leadership. The energy efficiency standard indicators of typical products such as room air conditioners and electric motors have reached the international advanced level. From 2016 to 2020, China issued 26 mandatory energy efficiency standards for products and equipment, saving 49 billion kWh of electricity annually, equivalent to 2.86 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

The State Administration for Market Regulation said that the release of the 16 national standards in the field of energy conservation in foreign language responded in a timely manner to the CPC Central Committee and the State Council's energy conservation decisions and deployments on carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, highlighting the normative leadership and source control of my country's advanced energy conservation standards.
